Rock Climbing

Monday, February 22, 2016

Hey guys! I know I haven't updated in a while but I've been swamped with work! Legal life ain't easy. Especially if you're doing corporate law like me! But lucky for me, today I spent the whole day at the client's office near by my house so I got the chance to go home earlier than usual.

Apart from that, I also haven't done much so I don't really have any contents to blog about. I obviously don't have a life on weekdays and on weekends, I usually just chill with my boyfriend. But I did attend an open audition last Saturday! It was for FINAS and I guess it went alright. The wait was long but once you've registered, then it wasn't that long of a wait. And I get to play a psycho! How cool is that? I got to channel my inner A from Pretty Little Liars! LOL. But also, there's not much to blog about on that.

So lets talk about what I did last two weeks! I finally went rock climbing! My boyfriend, friend and I went to Xero Gravity at PJ. It was way harder than I thought! I don't know why I expected it to be easy when I know I'm afraid of heights. I thought it was like cheerleading you know? Cause I was a flyer and even though I am afraid of height, I do like getting toss around in the air. But I guess this is different. You don't know where to place your hands, your feet. And some of the rock was so small it can barely fit my toes! And when you think you're really up high, in reality, you're just a few feet above the ground!

Don't be fooled. I was barely in the centre. Good thing I have a good photographer as friends and boyfriend! Overall, the place was quite good. There's also a place to shower and we got free lockers. I can't remember how much is it for the entrance fee. But yeah. That's about the only interesting thing I've done in a while since I started work. And now time to catch up on my TV series! See ya.

Sapporo, Hokkaido trip

Saturday, February 06, 2016

Hello guys! So as some of you may know, or not...I recently just got back from my trip to Sapporo, Hokkaido in Japan about less than two weeks ago with my mum, a few of her friends and theirs kids and my cousin! Sorry it took so long for me to blog about my trip. My macbook charger wasn't working so I had to buy a new one and also I started work three days later. That, I shall blog about in another post.

Now where do I begin. The flight took us about 8 hours from. I have no idea what to expect when I was about to go there except snow. Lots and lots of snow. Now having experienced light snow before, I thought I knew what I was going to handle. A couple of thermals, boots, scarves, gloves and I'll be set. Boy, was I wrong. The snow was a lot worse than what I've ever experienced and it was really cold!

Day one

We reached Sapporo really early in the morning. It took about an hour or so to get to our hotel. We got a van from the airport to the hotel and on the way to our hotel, it started snowing so heavily! Being Malaysians, everyone was so jakun

Since we couldn't check in yet, we decided to just leave our bags in the hotel and walk around our hotel area. We stayed at APA Hotel in Susukino, which is a walking distance to their city. Just so you know, I was wearing Doc Marten's boots thinking it would suffice for me to walk in the snow. So we were just walking and walking. We didn't really know where to go yet so we just explored. We went into a few arcades but most of the shops weren't opened yet.

So back to my shoes, as we were walking, my toes felt like it was literally frozen! So me and my cousin decided to head back to the hotel first since her toes felt frozen too. I was actually scared I could have gotten a frost bite lol. Since we still couldn't check in, we decided to take a few pictures as fast as we could.

That's how heavy the snow was!

See how my shoes was covered in snow? LOL

The view outside our hotel.

We finally got to check in at 3.30! Everyone was back at the hotel and they were too tired to go out after that. I was roomies with my cousin so we got some rest and we decided to go out and walk around. We also wanted to go to LUSH to buy a few things since we don't have that in Malaysia.

We went to PARCO Mall to get some LUSH stuff. We both got face masks.  Then we decided to have dinner cause the shops and malls there closes at 8 pm and it was already late. We were looking for tempura or sushi around the arcades but it was actually hard to find it! They had mostly sashimi, which I love but my cousin doesn't. But we ended up in a restaurant that serves sashimi and grilled food.

Freshest sashimi Ive ever tasted!

And that's the city! It's apparently one of Japan's major red light district. It's really alive at night but it's also safe. After dinner we went back to our hotel.

Day two

We had an early start on day two because we wanted to go skiing! We went to Sapporo Teine Ski Resort. Mind you, it was really hard for us to figure out how to get there because of the communication problem. But one thing I really love about Japan is how helpful the people are even if they can't really speak English. We ended up figuring out how to get there with random people's help. We took the train from JR station to Teine station. And from there we took a taxi to the ski resort. They do provide a shuttle bus but we were way ahead of the bus schedule so we opted for the taxi instead.

So my mum's friend's daughter (Nabila) and I knows how to ski. But our cousins (her cousin tagged along too) didn't know how. Me and Nabila decided to go on the higher slopes while our cousins stayed at the flat ground. It all went well at first. We had to use the cable car to go up.

Now here's a funny story. After all the parents and our cousins left, we decided to try a harder slope, which doesn't look THAT hard. So we got up there, and we realise it was quite steep and high. There was an instructor asking us if we knew how to ski and he wanted to see it first. Of course, we knew how. What we don't know is how to slow down. So he thought us and it was fine at first. Besides, the only way to go back down was to walk downhill. And those skis are heavy! So we decided to just try it. What we didn't realise was that there were those bumps! So we went down super fast and both of us ended up skiing over one of the bumps and before I knew it, I was tumbling down. Like tergolek. But thank God they used natural snow so that landing wasn't too much of an impact. I was looking for Nabila and she fell too! AND one of my ski board thing was gone! I looked for it and realised it was like 20 m away from me. And Nabila's stick was gone too! But hers was higher up. LOL. I managed to crawl to my ski board thing but Nabila's was too high up. Luckily, a little boy came to her rescue and got her stick for her. After struggling to get my boots in, we continued to ski our way down. It wasn't so bad since we were halfway down when we fell. And that was the last of that slope. We decided to stick with the easier slope. LOL baru nak sedar diri.

After a whole day of skiing, we went back to our hotel. But we stopped at JR Sapporo station first for dinner. They also have a few malls in the station so we walked around there since it's only two stops away from Susukino. I was exhausted by then but dinner was good! I had a salmon don set where they had everything salmon! From salmon sashimi to grilled salmon to a few other ways of cooking which I've never tried before in Malaysia so I don't know what it's called. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture.

Day 3

On the third day, we took a train to Otaru. It's basically like a fishermen's village. It's a small town but with a really nice canal. Apparently there's also a LED lights show at the canal but they only commence in February.

The train actually passed the sea and we were THAT close to it. Kinda scary.

It was really cold at Otaru. We found a tour guide who told us where to go and gave us a map.

We found and OOTD wall and of course, I looked fat.

This is the canal
A random thing happened while we were here. So me and the 'kids' were sitting outside while waiting for the mums in some shop. And a bunch of Japanese tourists took pictures of us! Like with a proper camera and all that jazz. Kinda felt like a celebrity for a few seconds LOL!

But yeah we basically just walked around and explored. We finally had sushi! I don't know why but so far, all the sushi I've tried in Japan, be it Tokyo or Sapporo, they always put the wasabi IN the sushi. Is that a Japanese thing? But it was still good, despite the after effect of it. And I also had salmon sashimi and one of my mum's friend had a huge crab! Like huge, for lunch. It was really expensive though!!

I mean come on, look at how huge that is!

Then later at night, me and my cousin walked around the station. We went to Pokemon Centre. It was so cute!
The kind of pictures you take for instagram LOL

Day 4

Day 4 was practically our last day since we had to leave early the next morning. We went to Takino Suzuran Hillside park.

starbucks too hot? no problem!

We basically just walked around. Then we headed back to Sapporo cause we wanted to go to Mitsui Outlet (way better than the one in KL). So we waited for the bus around 2.30....for almost an hour. Turns out the last bus leaves at 2! And by the time we realised it was already 3.30 and we had to take another bus which is not a direct bus and that would take us more than an hour. Plus we don't know which bus to take anyway. So we decided to just walk around that area. But it's alright since we've never fully explored the areas near our hotel.

We had tempura for dinner and if you guys are ever in Japan, you should definitely try their ice cream and dessert! Especially the cheese cake! It was so good!

So after dinner my cousin and I decided to walk around the city. We split up from the parents and walked on our own. And we only managed to find the underground mall on our last day, unfortunately. But we did manage to get last minute chocolates and souvenirs.

And that's it! We left early the next morning. I will definitely be back :p
